About The Position

We are seeking an intellectually curious and self-motivated Financial Analyst to join our Washington Division’s finance team. The role will be responsible for day-to-day tasks, as well as being part of high visibility projects aimed at making our current processes more efficient while keeping scalability in mind. The ideal candidate would have a finance background, is eager to learn new things, and take on challenges while maintaining high quality work in a rapidly growing organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree; emphasis in business, finance and/or accounting.
  • 3-5 years of experience within a finance group or equivalent.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational skills and analytical thinking.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well independently.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including advanced skills in Excel including pivot tables, Inform XL queries, and the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, collaborate with team members and display initiative.
  • Self-starter and able to work independently with and without supervision.
  • Forecasting and budget variance analysis.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in new home construction and real estate development is highly preferred, and desire to expand upon that experience is required.
  • Experience with NEWSTAR and Datarails preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with and create complex Excel modeling tools to analyze new and ongoing real estate developments.
  • Prepare and analyze competitive market analysis for home building projects.
  • Prepare monthly project updates to facilitate actual-to-budget variance analysis.
  • Work closely with the Corporate and Divisional finance teams to prepare and update the quarterly divisional business plans and associated financial reports.
  • Recommend ways to automate reporting and streamline processes.
  • Prepare project cash flow proforma and run proforma model sensitivities.
  • Interpret and analyze results from data extractions to identify patterns and trends, including financial results.
  • Identify user requirements and turn them into actionable information with accurate and understandable reports and applications.
  • Identify areas of process improvements and manage change implementation.
  • Learn and integrate new systems as needed.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, as well as superior problem solving, attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  • Prioritize and manage workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Measure and synthesize critical financial metrics to drive more strategic analysis.
  • Track KPIs and prepare associated financial reports.
  • Perform other tasks based on company needs.
