About The Position

WECU is seeking a full-time Financial Analyst to join our Finance team in Bellingham, WA. This position will identify and assess financial opportunities for WECU as well as identify and execute operational improvements and efficiencies. Provide reliable and accurate support and analysis of profitability, asset/liability management, and loan & deposit pricing. Utilize business intelligence tools to provide management and internal customers with recommendations, product cost analysis, and other optimization-related information. May prepare forecasts and analysis of trends in lending, finance, conditions, and other related areas. This position will collaborate with many other departments of the Credit Union and regularly interfaces with leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, statistics, economics, or finance.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with basic accounting and/or finance principles.
  • Advance/expert use of Excel required.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to think strategically, critically, and solve complex business problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SQL, SSRS and database applications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day investment activities under the guidance of ALCO and the VP, Finance and Accounting.
  • Conduct research regarding new services, products, and operating policies.
  • Conduct market research for WECU, both internally and externally.
  • Provide senior management with statistics and information for board and managerial reports.
  • Measure, analyze and communicate the costs and benefits of products, services, programs, and departments presently in place and proposed.
  • Participate in the process of updating and maintaining our ALM modeling system, including ongoing improvements and compliance with best practices regarding ALM modeling.
  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, investing, derivatives, or financial reporting as needed.
  • Assist with researching and preparing WECU’s strategic business plan and financial projections.
  • Assist in the development of ALM modeling assumptions regarding the volumes of business which could be expected under the current business plan and under alternative strategies, each in conjunction with each of the scenarios for possible rate conditions.
  • Assists in collecting and providing ALM, budget, and other accounting-related information during internal, external, and regulatory audits.
  • Assists staff in completing project-related budgets and return-on-investment analysis.
  • Monitors and reports our deposit rates, including certificate and IRA rates, as compared to our competitors to ALCO.
  • Attends ALCO committee meetings and other committee or management meetings on request.
  • Follows policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations.
  • Completes mandatory BSA/AML annual training via online web course.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by management.
  • Follows WECU’s policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may also assist others to complete tasks and work assignments.
