About The Position

The Financial Accountant role is an opportunity to bring strong accounting expertise, analytical thinking, and a continuous improvement mindset to Accounting Operations. You will support key financial processes, deliver accurate reporting, and work closely with Finance and business partners to improve processes, enhance service, and drive better outcomes.

Requirements

• University Degree with 4 years related experience or College Diploma in Business or Commerce
• 6 years of progressive accounting related experience and enrollment at an advanced level in a designated professional program.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered where appropriate.
• Advanced skill in utilizing spreadsheets is required.
• Expert knowledge of accounting concepts and financial reporting requirements.
• Excellent leadership, organization, communication and analytical skills combined with the ability to work with many different people in different areas and levels of ENMAX is required.
• You can work independently while maintaining an accurate product without compromising reporting deadlines.
• The position requires an awareness of clients’ business and operating environment and an understanding of the comments and questions of clients and to appropriately respond.
• Must be legal to work in Canada
• Requires the successful completion of a criminal background check.
• Two pieces of valid Government issued ID will be required.
• Two professional references will be requested.

Responsibilities

• Complete all accounting and month-end processes for areas of accountability (e.g., journals entries, monthly accrual process, allocations)
• Support budgeting and forecasting process for areas of accountability
• Liaise with business partners and other Finance departments as required
• Assist in creation and distribution of period end and ad-hoc reports and schedules
• Assist in continuous improvement efforts to improve service to internal and external customers.
• Provides informal leadership within the team environment by sharing own expertise with others
• Actively participates as a team member
• Proposes changes to processes, approaches and techniques
