About The Position

This key independent contributor on the Finance team will support one division of a global biopharma leader. The role owns divisional zero-based budgeting and forecasting, reviews month-end close accruals and analytics, and serves as a financial partner to divisional business leaders. It translates business activity into actionable insights and supports leadership review cycles with clear, data-driven forecasts. The position requires 3–5 days onsite in Alameda, California.

Requirements

At least 7 years of progressive finance experience, including divisional FP&A or business unit ownership.
Background in pharma, medical device, life sciences, or another regulated, science-based industry.
Strong command of Excel and familiarity with enterprise planning tools such as Oracle EPM, Hyperion, or Anaplan, or equivalents.
Ability to connect high-level P&L outcomes with detailed transactional data to produce strategic insights.
Confident communication and cross-functional engagement skills, with the ability to influence leadership decisions through clear financial storytelling.
Self-driven and detail-oriented, comfortable working hands-on with data across tactical execution and strategic analysis.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end divisional budgeting and forecasting using zero-based principles.
Perform variance reviews down to the GL account, project code, and purchase order level; identify drivers and recommend course corrections.
Collaborate with accounting to identify, prepare, and book division-level accruals for accurate financial reporting.
Build and present forecast decks for divisional and executive leadership meetings, synthesizing operational metrics and financial outcomes.
Engage with business leaders to align forecasts with operational realities, build data-driven models, and strengthen decision-making.
Use enterprise planning systems and advanced Excel analytics to improve forecasting efficiency and accuracy.
