About The Position

Toku is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee the compliance and reporting functions of its finance team. This role involves coordinating statutory filings, monthly reporting, and audit processes across Toku's global entities. The Finance Manager will manage the compliance and reporting calendars, external consultant relationships, and ensure workstreams remain on track. This position requires a proactive individual who can monitor the status of filings, identify risks, and escalate issues as needed. The role emphasizes coordination and requires a strong understanding of global tax and corporate compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Finance or business degree.
  • 3-5 years of similar compliance experience.
  • Working knowledge of VAT/GST mechanics, US state tax compliance, corporate income tax coordination, and statutory annual filings.
  • Strong track record managing external consultants.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Comfortable adopting LLMs to reduce manual work and proposing new automations.
  • Self-directed, calendar-driven, and comfortable with ownership.

  • Previous experience in a startup is a big plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the compliance calendar, including all entities, filing obligations, deadlines, and consultants.
  • Drive weekly review cycles with the team and escalate at-risk items.
  • Coordinate global VAT filings, including liaising with local consultants, reviewing returns, and chasing overdue items.
  • Oversee US state tax compliance, including payroll tax returns, franchise tax filings, and annual reports.
  • Coordinate annual filings such as reports, director filings, KYC renewals, and registered agent/office renewals.
  • Oversee direct tax compliance, including CIT returns, advance tax payments, TDS filings, TRC applications, 1099 filings, and FBAR reporting.
  • Manage external relationships with local consultants and auditors, including reviewing engagement letters, negotiating fees, tracking SLAs, and resolving disputes.
  • Coordinate new entity incorporations, closures, share transfers, and organizational chart changes.
  • Track changes in tax, employment, and corporate law across operational jurisdictions and update internal documentation.
  • Coordinate transfer pricing documentation and filings, ensuring alignment with intercompany flows and flagging regulatory changes.
  • Coordinate the preparation and filing of annual financial statements across jurisdictions.
  • Produce a monthly compliance and reporting report for executive leadership.
  • Continuously improve compliance and reporting workflows, identify automation opportunities, and partner with the Controller on system improvements.
