Finance Manager, DaaS

Snorkel AI•San Francisco, CA
•$130,000 - $180,000

About The Position

The DaaS Finance Manager is a critical member of Snorkel AI’s Finance organization and a dedicated finance partner to the DaaS business as it scales. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, this role provides financial insight to support decisions about pricing, delivery costs, delivery capacity, revenue, and ARR. The manager partners closely with Sales, Delivery Ops, RevOps, Deal Desk, and Accounting, bringing clear assumptions, consistent definitions, and trusted models to business planning and execution. The role owns the DaaS revenue model and forecast, including bookings, acceptance-based revenue, and ARR by deal; supports weekly forecasting and leadership reporting; and contributes to annual operating and long-range plans. It also maintains the delivery capacity model, translating bookings into staffing needs and explaining variances in utilization, project mix, productivity, and headcount. The Finance Manager develops business insights on pricing, mix, margin, and pacing; reviews deal economics and pricing templates; analyzes customer, project, and product profitability; and supports product investment decisions. The role also identifies and drives process improvements, automates recurring analysis, and supports board and investor materials for the DaaS business. Success is measured by the quality of decisions and outcomes, including deal margins, staffing plans aligned with demand, and forecasts trusted by leadership.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in FP&A, product or business finance, deal desk, or strategic finance, including at least 2 years at a high-growth technology company.
  • Hands-on ownership of a revenue forecast and a unit-economics or pricing model.
  • Fluency in gross margin versus contribution margin, cost-to-serve, and how pricing, discounting, and incentives affect both.
  • Experience with services or labor-based delivery economics, including utilization, headcount per project, and contractor mix.
  • Expert spreadsheet modeling skills in Google Sheets or Excel.
  • Working SQL skills and comfort pulling data from a CRM and data warehouse.
  • Clear, concise executive communication skills, including the ability to write actionable leadership summaries.
  • Ability to make reasoned decisions with incomplete data, state assumptions, and refine analysis as facts emerge.
  • A process-improvement mindset, including identifying friction, proposing simpler approaches, and driving adoption.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in AI/ML, data services, a marketplace with reusable inventory, services, or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ARR-style metrics and acceptance-based revenue recognition.
  • Experience preparing board or investor materials, including fundraise data rooms.
  • Use of AI tools and light scripting, such as Python, to automate recurring analysis.
  • Experience with BI tools such as Looker or Tableau, or planning tools such as Adaptive or Pigment.
  • Background at a top consulting firm, investment bank, or finance-rotation program.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the DaaS revenue model, including bookings, acceptance-based revenue, and ARR by deal, with scenario cases for planning.
  • Partner with RevOps on the weekly revenue and ARR forecast and prepare the weekly forecast deck and leadership summary.
  • Reconcile Sales’ commit, forecast, and best-case calls with a deal-by-deal finance view; quantify coverage, swing deals, and risks.
  • Track delivery pacing and acceptance against plan and identify execution risks.
  • Build forecast-versus-actual and bookings-to-revenue bridges and variance analyses for quarterly and annual planning.
  • Build DaaS inputs to the annual operating plan and long-range plan, including revenue, delivery costs, margin, and delivery headcount, and analyze monthly actuals versus plan.
  • Partner with Accounting on revenue recognition inputs, cost of goods sold, and margin actuals.
  • Maintain the delivery capacity model with Delivery Ops, including utilization, project mix, headcount per project, and cost to deliver.
  • Reconcile the capacity plan with actual staffing data and explain variances in mix, productivity, and headcount.
  • Translate the bookings pipeline into staffing demand and flag hiring or Expert Contributor needs ahead of each quarter.
  • Lead regular capacity planning reviews with Delivery leadership.
  • Identify trends in pricing, mix, margin, and pacing and present recommendations to leadership.
  • Partner with Deal Desk on finance input for deals; review deal models and pricing templates for accuracy and margin, and recommend adjustments.
  • Analyze cost to deliver by customer, project, and product, tied to revenue.
  • Assess the economics and margin requirements of each product and identify where to invest.
  • Identify broken or slow processes and drive improvements to cycle time and data quality.
  • Automate recurring models, moving them from manual spreadsheets toward scalable, auditable tools.
  • Support board and investor content for the DaaS business.
  • Run the weekly forecast and capacity model, with senior leadership reviewing rather than building, and provide deal-economics checks relied on by Deal Desk and RevOps.

Benefits

  • Meaningful opportunities to shape priorities and initiatives and influence strategic decisions.
  • Support for career development, technical expertise, leadership opportunities, and learning across functions.
