About The Position

Encord is seeking a Product Engineer to join their Data as a Service (DaaS) team in San Francisco. This role is crucial for building the infrastructure that labels and curates data from the physical world, which is essential for the advancement of AI in fields like robotics, autonomous vehicles, and medical systems. The DaaS team addresses the challenge of providing labeled data at scale, acting as a bridge between customers providing raw data (video, LiDAR, medical imaging) and the need for high-quality labels. The work involves creating a sophisticated ML layer that routes tasks between AI models and human experts, ensuring measurable quality, and serving a diverse user base including AI labs and a global annotation workforce. This is a greenfield opportunity with no legacy systems, offering the chance to build foundational technology for the next wave of AI.

Requirements

Experience in building and maintaining systems from scratch.
Understanding of trade-offs in shipping reliable, performant software at speed.
Desire to engage directly with customers for feedback and iteration.

Experience founding something or being an early engineer on a team.
