•$96,000 - $129,000

About The Position

Thanx is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to own core accounting operations and help build a scalable finance function. The role is accountable for accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting, including month-end close, revenue recognition, reconciliations, and billing operations. The Finance Manager works directly with the VP of Finance and collaborates across the organization to maintain a strong financial foundation and develop efficient processes. As part of a lean finance team, the role also contributes to strategic work beyond traditional accounting, including financial planning, unit economics, M&A, and other high-priority initiatives. Thanx emphasizes an AI-first finance culture: the Finance Manager is expected to use AI tools, automate repetitive workflows, improve financial analysis and reporting, and maintain sound accounting practices, human review, and financial controls. The company expects employees to take ownership and may require evening or weekend work when business needs call for it.

Requirements

  • Typically 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience; ideally a combination of public accounting and hands-on operating experience at a high-growth company.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, including accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience independently managing month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms, including practical use to improve workflows, enhance analysis, and increase productivity.
  • Ability to identify manual, repetitive finance processes and translate them into scalable, technology-enabled workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to connect accounting details to broader business implications.
  • Comfort working in a lean, fast-moving environment where priorities shift and employees are expected to roll up their sleeves.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends when the work calls for it.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification.
  • Experience with SaaS accounting, subscription billing, or recurring revenue models.
  • Experience with automation tools, AI-assisted spreadsheet analysis, or workflow integrations.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Bill.com, and modern accounting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expenses; reviewing bank and balance sheet reconciliations; and maintaining an accurate, correctly classified general ledger.
  • Manage revenue recognition by applying GAAP to deferred revenue and customer contract accounting and resolving discrepancies before reporting.
  • Oversee billing operations to ensure invoices are accurate, timely, and aligned with contract terms.
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Merchant Operations to resolve billing issues and keep customer and contract data consistent across Salesforce, Bill.com, and accounting systems.
  • Support accounts receivable and collections.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.
  • Support board, investor, and lender reporting; coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors; and maintain a strong internal control environment.
  • Support the VP of Finance with forecasting, budgeting, unit economics, margin analysis, and M&A diligence.
  • Help build reporting infrastructure that scales with the company.
  • Identify and automate repetitive finance processes across close, billing, reconciliations, accounts receivable, expense management, and financial reporting.
  • Use AI to accelerate financial analysis, variance explanations, forecasting, and management reporting while maintaining accuracy, data security, human review, and sound accounting practices.
