Finance Engineer (Rotational Program)

Lumafield•Boston, MA
•$95,000 - $160,000

About The Position

Lumafield is hiring a Finance Engineer for a three-year rotational program across Finance and Accounting. The role combines finance work with building and connecting systems, AI agents, and workflows to support analysis, close processes, and operations. The technology stack includes NetSuite, Maxio, Ramp, Numeric, HubSpot, Abacum, Databricks, and Claude. The program consists of three one-year rotations: FP&A, reporting to the Head of Finance; Finance Operations; and Record-to-Report, with the latter two reporting to the Head of Accounting. At the end of each rotation, the Finance Engineer presents to Finance leadership on their responsibilities, what they built, and what the next Finance Engineer will inherit. Rotation managers provide structured feedback at the midpoint and end of each year. After completing all three rotations, the employee graduates into a senior role in Finance, Accounting, or another Lumafield team needing an AI builder with finance judgment. The Finance Engineer owns analysis, modeling, and deliverables for their areas, and builds systems and automation rather than relying on engineering support or manual spreadsheet exports. The role connects systems, removes workflow bottlenecks, and creates documented, reusable, audit-ready workflows and AI agents. In FP&A, the role owns the operating model and forecast in Abacum, monthly variance analysis, and board and executive reporting. It also supports capital markets and M&A work and builds forecasting and reporting agents. In Finance Operations, the role owns collections and accounts receivable performance, accounts payable and purchasing in Ramp, monthly revenue recognition under ASC 606, sales tax compliance, automation of recurring financial workflows, and a 13-week cash forecast. In Record-to-Report, the role runs month-end close for assigned areas, owns inventory and manufacturing cost accounting, works with external auditors, maintains process and control documentation, and builds close agents for human review.
