About The Position

Lumafield is hiring a Finance Engineer for a three-year rotational program across Finance and Accounting. The program includes three one-year rotations: FP&A, reporting to the Head of Finance; Finance Operations; and Record-to-Report, with the latter two reporting to the Head of Accounting. At the midpoint and end of each year, rotation managers provide structured feedback. At the end of each rotation, the Finance Engineer presents to Finance leadership on work owned, systems or processes built, and what the next Finance Engineer will inherit. After completing all three rotations, the employee graduates into a senior role in Finance, Accounting, or another Lumafield team needing an AI builder with finance judgment. The role combines finance analysis and operations with systems integration and automation. The Finance Engineer owns the analysis, modeling, and deliverables for their area, and is accountable for their accuracy and timing. They build skills and applications on the company’s data lake and source systems, connect systems and remove workflow bottlenecks, and build AI agents and workflows with documented review points so results are audit-ready. Recurring work is turned into documented, reusable workflows. The technology stack includes NetSuite, Maxio, Ramp, Numeric, HubSpot, Abacum, Databricks, and Claude. In the FP&A rotation, the Finance Engineer owns the operating model and forecast in Abacum, including headcount, revenue, cash, runway, and monthly variance analysis. They build board and executive reporting packages and support capital markets and M&A work, including data rooms, diligence requests, scenario modeling, and lender compliance reporting. They also build forecasting and reporting agents. In the Finance Operations rotation, the Finance Engineer owns collections and accounts receivable performance, accounts payable and purchasing in Ramp, monthly revenue recognition under ASC 606, and sales tax compliance in Maxio and Avalara. They automate collections, billing, coding, and reconciliation workflows and measure their cash impact. They also own the 13-week inflows and outflows cash forecast. In the Record-to-Report rotation, the Finance Engineer runs the month-end close for assigned areas, including balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis, and audit-ready workpapers. They own inventory, COGS, fixed assets, and manufacturing cost accounting for scanner production; serve as a primary contact for external auditors on their areas; maintain related process and control documentation; and build close agents that draft entries, reconciliations, and flux explanations for human review.
