About The Position

Oversees financial transactions and operational functions for the department. Participates in long term and short term planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• College Degree in Accounting or Finance highly preferred.
• Approximately 4 years of experience in financial management and/or accounting.
• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications.
• Enterprise resource management (ERM) platforms; SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides analytical support by collecting and interpreting relevant financial data, prepares financial transactions and management reports (routine and ad-hoc); monitors accuracy of expenditures. Summarizes financial data with recommendations.
• Responsible for department procurement activities & compliance. Works closely with purchasing and vendors to setup lines of credit. Negotiates with vendors for best pricing and optimal service contracts and lease arrangements.
• Responsible for processing transactions within the enterprise resource system. Serves as super-user of the system and provides staff training. Oversee ERP governance, risk and compliance for the department.
• Responsible for institution-wide annual surveys including Space Management survey and Fixed Asset Inventory.
• Serves as financial compliance person for the department; recomends processes, investigates issues, recommends solutions, escalates issues as appropriate, acts as point person for financial audits, trains faculty and staff on proper accounting procedures.
• Examines month end statements for accuracy; provides explanations for variances. Calculates monthly supplemental compensation payments. Reconciles expenses. Participates in budget development. Ensures accurate expenditures & budgetary compliance.
• Works on special projects such as capital renovations, web site projects, etc. responds to fire department citations, works closely with EHS and facilities management.
