About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Finance and Accounting Associate to join our team. This role supports both accounting and finance functions, including maintaining financial records, assisting with compliance, payroll processing, and analyzing contract performance. This position is an in-office job located at our HQ in Elkridge, MD. This position is ideal for candidates who are looking to build a strong foundation in finance and accounting within a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Requirements

Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; however, additional relevant work experience may be accepted in place of a formal degree
Strong attention to detail, analytical acumen, and intellectual curiosity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of accounting principles
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel as well as a desire to develop advanced skills
Effective time management skills and ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills
Ability to adjust quickly and adapt to changing priorities
2 years of accounting or financial analysis experience.

Nice To Haves

Prior government contracting experience preferred.
Experience with Unanet preferred

Responsibilities

Update and maintain spreadsheets to support financial reporting and data accuracy.
Analyze assigned contracts, focusing on projected staff hours, contract totals, revenue, and profit margins.
Maintain appropriate records and documentation to support financial activities.
Assist with invoicing, timekeeping, bookkeeping, and payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate entries.
Support FMHER preparation and perform other data entry tasks as required.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, DAR, FAR, and other applicable government regulations.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including month-end close activities.
Reconcile accounts, resolve discrepancies, and assist with payroll-related reconciliations under the guidance of senior finance staff.
Support budget tracking, payroll analysis, and variance analysis to optimize financial performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information, ensure payroll accuracy, and provide financial insights.
