About The Position

The topper is responsible for installing fans, sheet metal parts, heat exchange coils and completing assembly of commercial/industrial refrigeration & HVAC equipment. This role involves maintaining a safe and clean working environment, reading and understanding engineering drawings and bills of materials, identifying and pulling parts, and installing various components like sheet metal parts, fans, and door locks. The position requires attention to detail to prevent scrapping parts, ensuring quality of work, and contributing to team efforts. Employees are expected to follow manufacturing instructions, work independently without constant supervision, be self-motivated, complete assignments on time, care for tools and equipment, and clean their work area. Overtime may be required as necessary, and accurate time tracking is essential.

  • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to read a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch.

  • Good people skills in order to work in teams with others in the organization.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to ask questions when needing clarification.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection).
  • Sustained use of eyesight for functions such as visual inspection, reading, measuring and operating hand tools.
  • Ability to see objects and detect motion at wide angles (peripheral vision) in order to maintain employee safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift license (obtained on-site)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings and instructions.
  • Read and understand bills of material.
  • Identify parts and pull top-out parts from the Bill of Materials.
  • Install sheet metal parts, fans, door locks, etc. by looking at the panel and determining how each part/fan/lock will fit in perfectly to prevent scrapping sheet metal parts.
  • Check work and ensure quality.
  • Contribute to team effort by working with others and accomplishing related functions as needed.
  • Complete any task as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
  • Comply with government regulations, laws, company policies, and company procedures.
  • Work overtime as necessary.
  • Attend work as required.
  • Arrive for work on time.
  • Charge time accurately in time and attendance system on the computer to ensure accurate labor distribution and payroll.
  • Follow manufacturing instructions, work by oneself without constant supervision, be self-motivated and complete job assignments on time.
  • Care for tools and equipment. Advise maintenance of equipment that is not working properly.
  • Clean work area as required.
