About The Position

Our Clark location is part of our Taste Division, producing flavors and ingredients. Our Clark facility is unique in the sense they have two buildings. The North building has a fruitier smell to it, the teams in that building are producing natural flavorings and essential oils. The South building is the complete opposite, it will have savoury and garlic smells because the team is producing seasonings for meat, chicken broth, and beef gravy. The Liquid & Extract Filtration Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining filtration systems used to clarify, purify, and prepare liquid products and extracts for downstream processing or packaging. This role ensures filtration is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality, food safety, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read batch sheets, SOPs, and technical instructions.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to operate pumps, valves, and automated controls.
  • Good problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and handle drums, totes, or hoses.
  • Standing, bending, and moving for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in environments with strong aromas, warm temperatures, or wet conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor filtration equipment such as: Pressure filters, Cartridge or bag filters, Centrifugal separators, Plate-and-frame filters, Membrane filtration units (UF/NF/RO).
  • Prepare filtration systems according to batch instructions and SOPs.
  • Adjust flow rates, pressures, and temperatures to meet product specifications.
  • Ensure proper filter media selection based on product type and clarity requirements.
  • Perform pre-filtration checks (viscosity, solids content, temperature).
  • Conduct in-process quality checks.
  • Document filtration parameters and results in accordance with GMP requirements.
  • Identify and report any deviations, off-spec product, or equipment abnormalities.
  • Perform CIP or COP cleaning of filtration equipment as required.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including chemical handling and PPE requirements.
  • Adhere to GMP, HACCP, and facility quality standards.
  • Coordinate with batching, blending, extraction, and packaging teams.
