About The Position

Barr is seeking a field technician with a reality capture and survey focus to join our Minneapolis, Minnesota, office. In this hybrid role, you will use traditional survey equipment alongside reality capture technologies, including 3D scanning and drones. The ideal candidate for this position is a clear and confident communicator who thrives in collaborative and independent work environments. They are adaptable, organized, proactive, eager to learn, and comfortable asking thoughtful questions. They bring a high level of attention to detail and take ownership of assigned tasks in dynamic field and office conditions. They demonstrate reliability, safety awareness, and a growth mindset as they build their technical skills and professional judgment.

Requirements

  • Two-year technical certificate or five years of experience directly related to the job responsibilities
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with Autodesk applications such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and related applications
  • Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience working in the field or on a construction site
  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)
  • Familiarity with reality capture technologies (3D scanning, point clouds, LiDAR, photogrammetry, VR/AR, 360 photo capture)
  • Familiarity with Leica Geosystems hardware and point cloud processing workflows (Cyclone, Register3D, JetStream, CloudWorx, TruView, 3DR)
  • Experience with point cloud registration/processing and alignment with design software
  • Familiarity with drone capture workflows (Pix4D and other LiDAR/Photogrammetry applications)
