About The Position

Barr is seeking a structural technician/designer to join our Duluth team. In this hybrid role, you will work with project teams to provide computer-aided drafting expertise, primarily using AutoCAD software. Typical duties may include data collection, planning, and problem solving related to structural design. Project work will include drafting the design of foundations and supports, steel framing, access platforms, stacks, pumping and piping systems, industrial equipment, conveyor systems, and various details. A successful person in this role is flexible, collaborative, and demonstrates strong initiative. The ideal candidate enjoys working both independently and as part of a team, communicates effectively, and adapts to changing schedules to meet deadlines and client needs.

Requirements

  • Two-year technical certificate or equivalent experience and/or coursework directly related to the job responsibilities.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience related to the job responsibilities.
  • Proficiency with current versions of AutoCAD.
  • Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 3D software such as Revit, CADWorx, Solidworks, etc.
  • Familiarity with a variety of structural systems, including heavy steel framing, concrete foundations, and concrete and masonry walls.
  • Experience with drafting and design in other engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, civil, or electrical.
