About The Position

Arcadis is actively hiring a Field Technician to join our growing Resilience Environment Team in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico! This position is responsible for collecting and analyzing environmental data, conducting site assessments, performing operation and maintenance tasks, and implementing resilience and sustainability measures. The technician ensures compliance with regulatory requirements while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the resilience of both natural and built environments.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience working in the field doing utility related work.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, including the ability to maintain and repair pumps and field equipment used in soil and groundwater remediation.
  • Hands-on experience operating environmental field instruments, such as water and air monitoring equipment, sampling pumps, and soil vapor devices.
  • Solid digital skills, including proficiency with computers, mobile devices, cameras, and Microsoft Office.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal teams, clients, and communities.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in diverse and sometimes demanding environments.
  • Flexibility to travel and adapt to changing field schedules.
  • Strong work ethic, commitment to quality, eagerness to learn.
  • Full bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English).

Nice To Haves

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in utility field work, including conducting inspections of water and wastewater infrastructure, soil and groundwater remediation systems, and documenting field conditions.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Relevant safety or technical certifications—such as HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, HAZMAT, or GIS/GPS.
  • Experience installing monitoring wells using techniques such as hollow stem augers and direct push.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting hands-on fieldwork in various environments, following established soil and groundwater sampling procedures, documenting findings, and utilizing relevant technology.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulations while collecting and analyzing data, implementing mitigation measures, and contributing to project documentation while maintaining high standards of safety and quality, following Arcadis Health and Safety procedures.
  • Collecting and monitoring environmental data using field equipment.
  • Supporting the operation and maintenance of groundwater treatment and soil vapor extraction systems.
  • Conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Performing site assessments, contributing to risk and vulnerability evaluations, and preparing clear field reports and technical documentation.
  • Identifying site hazards.
  • Supporting the implementation of environmental protection measures.
  • Engaging professionally with clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Managing data, including documentation through photos, videos, and field testing, using tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and mobile applications.
  • Traveling up to 75% for site visits, safety audits, and project activities.
