About The Position

The Field Technician (FTE) is responsible for collecting accurate and complete field data in accordance with the project scope assigned by REI Utility Services. This role requires knowledge and proper use of field data collection tools, understanding of client-specific construction specifications, and consistent communication with the Field Manager and/or Project Manager. The FTE plays a key role in maintaining safety and quality standards while representing REI in the field.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in applicable software or devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret project schematics.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable with physical activities such as climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record required.
  • Must pass background check, alcohol screening, and drug testing.
  • Ability to travel, work weekends, overtime, and be on call as required.
  • Strong verbal communication and professionalism when interacting with clients, teammates, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Collect required field data in compliance with the assigned Statement of Work (SOW).
  • Utilize field technology including RTK, hot stick, iPad, MiFi, and company vehicles.
  • Perform field-level Quality Control checks as directed.
  • Communicate effectively with property owners, field managers, and team members.
  • Make safe access decisions in the field and notify leadership of inaccessible areas.
  • Follow all REI safety protocols and enforce a safety-first culture.
  • Maintain and effectively use all assigned tools and equipment, including reporting maintenance needs.
  • Assist with job-specific guidance, training, and peer support as needed.
  • Understand and apply client-specific construction requirements.
  • Work around roadways and measure poles/midspans safely and accurately.
  • Complete documentation and upload field data using mobile or computer devices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
