About The Position

The Field Tech Support Specialist will provide on-site and remote technical support for software and hardware issues within school settings. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance of the cabling infrastructure, and participating in equipment management. The specialist will also establish and maintain positive relationships with school personnel to address their technical needs and provide progress reports on technical issues and resolutions.

Requirements

  • Exhibit a professional, reliable, trustworthy, and positive demeanor.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical problems, documenting all steps taken for resolution, including using an internal ticketing system.
  • Ability to effectively relay technical information and instructions (both written and verbal) to clients with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail and the capability to follow through on tasks.
  • Understanding of various versions of Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Group Policy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Google Workspace.
  • Comprehension of networking protocols and concepts such as TCP/IP addressing and VLANs.
  • Familiarity with network-based PC operating system deployment.
  • Ability to work and adapt in a dynamic, evolving-priority environment.
  • Ability to follow processes and protocols.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn and utilize software tools/applications (e.g., asset tracking and ticketing systems).
  • Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and valid vehicle insurance are necessary.
  • Local travel and occasional travel to other parts of Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with school personnel to understand and address their technical needs.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support for software and hardware issues, ensuring minimal disruption to educational activities.
  • Install, maintain, and repair desktop hardware, network equipment, and PC peripherals within school settings.
  • Deliver detailed and timely updates on the status of technical issues and resolutions.
  • Conduct regular maintenance of IT infrastructure in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensure the physical cabling infrastructure meets required standards for optimal performance.
  • Participate in the liquidation and disposal of outdated or surplus equipment.
