As a member of the service team, the field technician must be a highly motivated team player who accomplishes required tasks professionally and on time. The hired HD field mechanic will be responsible for working in a safe, efficient, clean, organized, and professional work environment at all times to ensure Nors's exceeds customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (email, vendor website, Prosis, Tech. Line).
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, computer tools, cutting torches, welding equipment, air tools, etc.
  • Post-secondary degree and/or relevant work experience required.
  • Heavy Duty Mechanic (421A) or equivalent certification/license (Equipment).

Responsibilities

  • Focus on developing and implementing a 'customer-first, customer-focused' service philosophy within the department and at the Branch site.
  • Focus on increasing revenue, improving operational efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction through the timely execution of field service work.
  • Responsible for all aspects of assigned field service calls, including but not limited to: Proactive customer contact to correctly identify machine defects.
  • Prompt and accurate diagnosis and repair, including connecting/diagnosing via computer with the machine to identify fault codes.
  • Effective communication with the vendor (Volvo) regarding Tech Line and/or direct calls to facilitate accurate diagnosis.
  • Accurate ordering of required parts and follow-up to ensure parts are received to complete the assigned service work.
  • Submission of accurate and timely service reports (including timesheets).
  • Maintenance and upkeep of assigned service vehicle and tools.
  • Daily vehicle inspections and CVOR logs.
  • Effective, open, and frequent communication with dispatch and the office.
  • Responsible for the return of unused parts at the conclusion of field service work.
  • Responsible for ensuring all field service requests emanating from customers or field dispatch are handled professionally and in a timely manner at all times.
