About The Position

The Field Service Technician will perform routine service and maintenance for regionally installed base of 3rd Eye products including onboard computers, external cameras, monitors, radar systems, and vehicle cabling. This person will troubleshoot equipment in person, general and technical information, and perform field service work and assist customers with problems associated with these areas. This also includes reports on warranty and quality of all products manufactured by 3rd Eye. Visit customer sites in the waste and recycling industry according to a provided schedule and route, with regular travel throughout the region, which could be up to 75%. Install additional 3rd Eye products at the customer site as needed.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree, Technical School, or equivalent work experience required.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to understand general arithmetic.
  • Ability to write in an understandable manner.
  • Ability to understand verbal or written instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and lists.
  • Ability to operate personal computer, smartphone, and tablet based technologies.
  • 5 years plus combined experience in general automotive, commercial electronics, and waste recycle industry vehicle knowledge.
  • 12 Volt automotive knowledge with minimum of 2 years prior experience.
  • Basic electronics testing knowledge including use of voltmeter, power probe, and test lights.
  • General knowledge of automotive equipment such as commercial trucks, waste and recycling collection vehicles, and light-duty passenger vehicles with minimum of 2 years experience.
  • Must be very self-motivating, proactive, and have a self-starter personality with a “can do” attitude looking to be a team player.
  • Ability to work independently while following direction from remote management.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Must be insurable and bondable.

  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed (occasionally on short notice).
  • Ability to operate company provided smartphone and Android tablet technologies for reporting and documentation along with basic computer skills.
  • Detail oriented with a thorough approach to note taking and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine service and maintenance for installed 3rd Eye products.
  • Troubleshoot equipment in person and provide technical information.
  • Perform field service work and assist customers with product-related problems.
  • Generate reports on warranty and quality of 3rd Eye products.
  • Visit customer sites in the waste and recycling industry.
  • Install additional 3rd Eye products at customer sites.
  • Receive customer inquiries and resolve problems.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance via telephone and repair products in the field.
  • Visually inspect products at various stages of production to maintain quality and reliability.
  • Complete periodic reports, including evaluating data and writing summaries.
  • Present pertinent information from field start-ups in writing or orally.
  • Drive company vehicle and use airlines for field service visits.
  • Assist customers with installations, training, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a professional image while on the road, at events, or with dealers.
  • Support local area sales representatives with clinics at retailers.
  • Prepare and test all equipment for product demonstrations.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment for demonstrations.
  • Attend required training sessions, workshops, and seminars.
  • Work with Engineering on research and development of new equipment.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Attend trade shows and customer events.
  • Maintain and upkeep of company-provided service van, tools, and product inventory.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers via phone and in person.
  • Become a subject matter expert on all company product lines, kits, and accessories.
  • Take thorough notes and maintain detailed documentation.
