About The Position

Abel Womack is seeking skilled and motivated Field Service Technicians to service material handling equipment in Saugus, Massachusetts, and the surrounding area. The position involves independent field work within an assigned territory, with support from a team and access to extensive technical training. Candidates with forklift, automotive, diesel, conveyor, heavy equipment, or other electromechanical experience may be suited to the role. Technicians install, maintain, and repair Raymond battery-powered lift trucks, warehouse storage systems, conveyors, carousels, and other automated material handling equipment. They work directly with customers to troubleshoot equipment, complete electronic work orders using a company-provided tablet, and represent Abel Womack professionally. Pay is $23–$36 per hour, with straight hourly pay and overtime opportunities.

Requirements

Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and/or electrical equipment, focusing on quality, efficiency, and cost-effective maintenance.
Ability to read schematics, maps, blueprints, and manuals.
Ability to communicate regularly by phone and in person with colleagues, representatives, specialists, dispatch, lead service technicians, and customers.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and build positive customer relationships through excellent customer service.
Must provide basic mechanic tools; specialty tools are provided.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. regularly.

Nice To Haves

Experience with electrical fuel systems, sensor technology, hydraulics, PLCs, or charging systems.
Experience as a forklift technician or transferable experience as an automotive, diesel, conveyor, heavy equipment, or other electromechanical mechanic.

Responsibilities

Travel within an assigned territory to install, maintain, and repair Raymond battery-powered lift trucks, warehouse storage systems, conveyors, carousels, and other automated material handling equipment.
Work directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve equipment challenges.
Apply and develop mechanical and technical skills through continuous training.
Submit electronic work orders using a company-provided tablet.
Represent Abel Womack professionally and provide excellent customer service.
Communicate regularly with team members, parts representatives, technical specialists, dispatch, lead service technicians, and customers.
