About The Position

GEA Group is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician Team Lead to join their Midwest Team. The ideal candidate will reside around the Houston or Oklahoma area. This role involves leading a team of field service technicians, providing advanced technical support, troubleshooting, and training to customers and junior technicians. The position requires extensive travel and a strong background in industrial refrigeration. Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
  • ANSI / IIAR-6 certification required or must be able to obtain certification within 1 year.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial refrigeration.
  • Capable of reading P&IDs and electrical schematics.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of the major components pertaining to a refrigeration system.
  • Advanced knowledge of screw and piston type compressors and their packages.
  • Advanced working knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and control schemes.
  • Advanced working knowledge of industrial control panels.
  • Ability to act as a trainer/mentor to junior field service technicians.
  • Ability to travel 90% of the time.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school certification in refrigeration or similar field is preferred.
  • RETA CIRO Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Creates an inspiring team environment with a culture of open communication.
  • Monitors team performance and reports on metrics.
  • Delegates tasks and sets deadlines.
  • Discovers training needs and provides coaching.
  • Actively listens to team members’ feedback and resolves issues/conflicts, at times with branch manager’s support.
  • Performs field service duties as a specialist, capable of performing all field service technician III tasks.
  • Provides troubleshooting support to improve machinery operation with respect to plant/refinery operation.
  • Trains customers on the operation of the equipment.
  • Acts as a mentor to junior technicians by providing on-the-job training, assuring work is completed correctly, and providing feedback on performance and suggestions to the branch manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responds to customer requests and field dispatches.
  • Meets with customers at sites to discuss the nature of service or repair.
  • Provides advanced technical support and performs advanced troubleshooting of the compressor package.
  • Provides advanced technical support and performs advanced troubleshooting on electrical & control systems.
  • Provides advanced technical support and performs advanced troubleshooting of refrigeration systems.
  • Performs retrofitting of industrial control panels across multiple manufacturers.
  • Completes routine maintenance or repair in accordance with ANSI/IIAR-6 2019, as applicable.
  • Inspects machinery to confirm proper working order.
  • Provides preventative measure suggestions.
  • Discusses work completed with customers.
  • Submits all time sheets, expense reports (within 30 days), service tickets, start-up reports, inspection reports, and other required paperwork within the required timeframe.
  • Performs after-hours telephone troubleshooting support.
