Join Hitachi Energy as a Field Service Technician and become part of our growing Service organization supporting customers across the United States. From installation and commissioning to maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and life-cycle support, you’ll work directly with critical transformer equipment while helping customers improve reliability and performance. Reporting to the Regional Field Operation Manager, you’ll combine hands-on technical expertise with a strong customer focus. You’ll troubleshoot challenges, work from mechanical and electrical drawings, support transformer assembly and oil processing activities, and help ensure every service job is completed safely and professionally. With travel of up to 85%, you’ll experience a variety of customer sites, equipment, and technical challenges while continuing to expand your transformer service expertise. Requirements

Associate degree with at least 2 years of professional work experience, or high school diploma/GED with at least 5 years of professional work experience.
Broad knowledge of transformer field service operations and transformer field testing.
Strong knowledge of transformer installation and assembly, vacuum and oil processing, shell and/or core form transformer designs, and internal transformer components.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 85% are required.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand, stoop, bend, and walk for extended periods of up to 12 hours per day.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Load Tap Changer (LTC) maintenance and repair and transformer tank welding is a plus.
Class A CDL is a plus.

Responsibilities

Deliver professional on-site and remote services, including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, retrofits, and equipment replacement.
Read and work from electrical and mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and service instructions to complete assigned work.
Perform transformer internal work, including bushing connections, lead clearance, tapping, crimping, taping, and contoured joints.
Repair, re-gasket, assemble, and disassemble transformer equipment using appropriate mechanical tools and procedures.
Operate and maintain Vacuum Oil Processors (VOPs) and oil-handling equipment with direction, including completing required processing logs.
Coordinate resources, equipment, and spare parts needed to support field service jobs.
Anticipate customer needs, deliver an outstanding service experience, and identify potential sales and business opportunities.
Recommend product, process, and operational improvements that strengthen service quality and the customer experience.
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
