About The Position

Eaton's Electrical sector is seeking a Field Service Representative (Technician/Technologist) to join their team. This role involves providing field service engineering and technical assistance to customers for installation, startup, maintenance, repair, training, and modification of power transmission, distribution, and generation equipment and systems. The position requires self-management of projects, knowledge of electrical test and diagnostic equipment, and the ability to deliver technical solutions. It also involves performing complex engineering assignments that may include equipment design, material testing, process studies, or research investigations.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education degree/ diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technologist / CET from an accredited institution.
  • 1-3 years of experience evaluating and servicing electrical distribution or control systems.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
  • Local business travel to customer sites required.
  • Business travel to United States for training on safety and Eaton products is required.
  • Valid and maintain an unrestricted driver’s license is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical aptitude and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
  • Effective time management, prioritization and project management skills.
  • Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Understanding of the company’s and competitor’s electrical, electronic and mechanical products.

Nice To Haves

  • Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyman Electrician
  • Experience in testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience performing power quality measurements, troubleshooting, and analysis is highly desirable.
  • Experience with protective relays is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide field service engineering and technical assistance to customers in areas of installation, testing, startup, maintenance, repair, training and modification of electrical power distribution equipment.
  • Self-manage assigned projects for electrical equipment.
  • Utilize knowledge of electrical test and diagnostic equipment.
  • Deliver technical solutions to customers.
  • Perform less conventional complex engineering assignments that may involve equipment or product design, testing of materials, process studies, or research investigations.
