Field Service Power Generation Technician
About The Position
Cummins is seeking a Field Service Power Generation Technician / Mechanic to join its Distribution Business in Manassas, Virginia. The role focuses primarily on preventative maintenance and basic repairs or diagnostics on generators and power-generation products. The technician performs repair and maintenance work using diagnostic tools, completes service records, interacts professionally with customers, follows Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies, and continues developing skills and certifications for new and existing Cummins products. Work is performed with direct supervision and review of workmanship quality. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with an on-call rotation and potential weekend work.
Requirements
- Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
- High-voltage and low-voltage experience.
- Ability to perform electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision, with hands-on exposure to power-generation products.
- Basic diesel engine experience.
- Minimal workshop-related experience.
- Basic knowledge of and/or experience with power-generation products.
- Current relevant electrical certification.
- Locally valid driving permit.
- Must be at least 18 years old with 2 years of driving experience.
- A current valid license is required.
- A five-year motor vehicle report free from major violations is required.
- May require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Nice To Haves
- Apprentice-trained Power Generation/Electrical Technician.
- A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire; federal law requires a CDL holder to be at least 21 years old.
