ProAutomated is building its 2026 hiring pipeline for Field Service Engineers who enjoy travel, hands-on work, and solving complex problems. The role includes four weeks of paid training and requires a basic foundation in electrical systems, programming, and communication networking. Employees work directly with customers across North America, travel on project rotations, and do not report to an office. They will be away from home while working. ProAutomated partners with system integrators and manufacturers rather than installing systems. Field Service Engineers help ensure automation projects work as intended by supporting data center startups and leading startup, checkout, and acceptance testing for warehouse fulfillment and manufacturing systems. The role also involves partnering with automation and controls engineers, troubleshooting and validating systems on-site, and communicating progress to customers and project teams. Typical travel rotations are 5 days on/2 days off, 10 days on/4 days off, or 14 days on/7 days off. Candidates must live within 50 miles of a major airport; relocation assistance is available. A personal vehicle is required within 45 days of employment for local projects. The position includes a starting salary of $60,000–$75,000, depending on location, education, and experience, plus per diem for meals, mileage reimbursement, utilization bonuses, weekend bonuses, paid training, annual merit raises, and a 5% salary increase after six months.
