About The Position

ZTR is seeking a Field Service Engineer – Electrical to join its technical support team. The role provides customer support for PLC-based solutions, including troubleshooting by phone and in the field, and occasional travel to customer sites to commission and install equipment. The position is based in East St. Louis, Illinois, and the successful candidate must live in or near the area. New graduates are welcome to apply. The position reports directly to the Technical Service Manager in London, Ontario, Canada. It includes domestic and international travel of up to 25%, on-site customer training and presentations, assigned sales support and project management tasks, and participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation for emergency troubleshooting.

Requirements

Two-year or advanced diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, or a degree in Electrical Engineering.
At least 2 years of relevant experience.
Experience with PLCs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills for a variety of audiences.
Ability to work autonomously at customer sites and manage project scope and cost.
Exceptional organizational and data-entry skills for related administrative tasks.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% to customer sites for commissioning and/or installation.
Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
Must live in or close to East St. Louis, Illinois.

Responsibilities

Program, configure, and troubleshoot ZTR locomotive operation, products, and solutions.
Provide customer service and support through field and telephone support.
Travel to customer sites to commission and install ZTR equipment.
Provide on-site technical training and presentations to customers.
Perform sales support and project management tasks as assigned.
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support emergency troubleshooting.
