About The Position

The Field Safety and Risk Manager is responsible for providing overall safety and risk management support to various construction projects throughout New England. The ideal candidate has 5-7 years of experience regarding construction safety, thorough understanding of OSHA and State level regulations, interpreting them, and successfully implementation on their defined projects. In addition, successful candidate will have construction related experience. Daily Risk Management inspections of field projects are the primary responsibility of the position to ensure compliance with Company and regulatory regulations. S/he must be able to interact with tradesmen through all levels of management effectively. The Field Safety and Risk Manager should have strong communication skills allowing to handle crucial conversations effectively.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience regarding construction safety
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA and State level regulations
  • Construction related experience
  • Ability to travel throughout New England
  • Have a reliable vehicle
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related construction management field
  • 5 years of safety or field related experience
  • Possess the OSHA 500 Trainer Authorization to perform both 10 and 30hr training sessions

Nice To Haves

  • Professional designations preferred (i.e. CSP, CHST, CRIS, CSL, etc.)
  • Construction work experience would also be considered and beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify risk and define mitigation strategies in a team environment
  • Participate in pre-construction safety meetings on all projects
  • Develop and implement Risk Mitigation plans, including; site-specific safety program(s), QAQC Plans, and Fire Prevention Plans with the project team
  • Drive QAQC Plans on assigned projects
  • Provide Risk Management expertise to the project team
  • Participate in weekly project safety meetings
  • Work with the Project Superintendents to identify key activities that require AHAs
  • Assist the subcontractors to ensure they are performing their work in a safe manner
  • Understand the project specifics to better support the teams
  • Be able to assess situations and work tasks to proactively assist with identifying the most appropriate course of action
  • Develop Safety Shares that will provide value to the company
  • Strong knowledge in Risk Management Practices and claims management
  • Conduct incident investigations
  • Understand insurance principles
  • Be able to manage their time to prioritize responsibilities
  • Work independently with little oversight
  • Write safety inspection reports and weekly summary reports for management
  • Provide periodic safety training in the field based on project needs
  • Manage the online safety training program that is currently in place to track employee’s progress
