About The Position

Q-Lab Corporation is seeking a Field Repair Technician to service and repair laboratory instruments and test equipment for customers across North America. The position requires approximately 50% domestic and international travel, including overnight trips and stays away for up to a full week when required. When not traveling, the technician reports to Q-Lab’s corporate headquarters in Westlake, Ohio. The candidate must reside within 60 miles of Westlake, Ohio.

Requirements

Recognized electrical or mechanical qualification, apprenticeship, and five years of work experience.
Work experience with technical equipment, preferably in a laboratory setting.
Ability to read and interpret documents, instructions, and manuals.
Diplomacy and tact when reporting non-conforming events (NCEs) to management, with urgency.
Highly proficient computer skills and typing, including Windows, Microsoft applications, and relevant CRM systems.
Experience with domestic and international travel and ability to travel.
Clean driving record.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot malfunctioning laboratory instruments or test equipment and test mechanical mechanisms and electronic circuitry to identify root-cause failures.
Perform hands-on repairs to malfunctioning laboratory instruments or test equipment and test assemblies for conformance with manufacturer specifications.
Travel domestically and internationally approximately 50% of the year to provide repair support to direct-market customers, including trips of up to a full week.
Provide customers with recommendations by phone and email to resolve instrument issues and follow up on ongoing issues. This may include sending replacement parts, referring issues to the home office for guidance, or performing an on-site resolution.
