About The Position

National General is a part of The Allstate Corporation, offering a wide range of insurance products. As a Field Property Adjuster, you will be responsible for investigating and confirming the facts of loss for complex Homeowner's Claims. This includes determining coverage, damages, and negotiating claims within your authority. You will create comprehensive estimates of damages for complex first-party homeowner claims, leading to their proper disposition. This role also involves acting as a peer mentor, potentially assigning direction to more junior employees, and demonstrating mastery of company processes and technical expertise. The ideal candidate will be based in the Indianapolis, Indiana area, managing moderate residential and some condo claims through in-person field inspections and virtual assessments. Success requires strong conflict management skills, proficiency in Xactimate, and a commitment to excellent customer service in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must terminate all existing insurance license appointments prior to onboarding and not hold any outside appointments during employment.
  • Applicants seeking an adjuster role who also hold a resident producer license must formally surrender that license when instructed to by the licensing team.

  • Applicable active licenses needed for this role, which could include Home Resident Property & Casualty License, Designated Home State (DHS) Florida or Texas License, and/or applicable Appraiser License.

Responsibilities

  • Investigating and confirming the facts of loss for the most complex Homeowner's Claims.
  • Determining coverage, damages and otherwise adjusting and negotiating claims within limit of authority.
  • Creating a comprehensive estimate of damages for the most complex first party homeowner claims leading to the proper disposition.
  • Acting as a peer mentor and potentially assigning direction to more junior employees.
  • Managing moderate residential and some condo claims, conducting both in-person field inspections and virtual assessments.
  • Exhibiting mastery estimating fundamentals in order to create estimates of damages on the most complex 1st party homeowner losses of all severities.
  • Building mastered relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Interpreting regulatory compliance and fair claims practices.
  • Negotiating settlements, making settlement payments and documenting all activities in the most complex of files.
  • Applying mastered content in interpretations of all policy types written by the company and assisting leadership in formal and ad hoc training.
  • Recommending process improvements.
