About The Position

This position will have shared responsibilities related to Field Placement and Grants Management in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE). The candidate will provide leadership and coordination for student practicum and internship placements, while also delivering robust business, financial, and grant management support for CASE. This position interfaces extensively with faculty, school district partners, accreditation bodies, and internal administrative units to ensure high‑quality field experiences, strong fiscal stewardship, and full compliance with institutional, state, and federal requirements. The role is critical to maintaining accreditation readiness, supporting grant‑funded initiatives, and ensuring smooth departmental operations across multiple academic and administrative domains.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in education program coordination, field placement, school partnerships, or related areas.
  • Knowledge of educator preparation programs and field placement practices.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with school partners, faculty, and students.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of grant management, financial tracking, and budget reconciliation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working in a P–12 educational environment preferred.
  • Additional experience in grant management, budget administration, or business operations is strongly desired.
  • Familiarity with educator preparation accreditation standards (e.g., CAEP) preferred.
  • experience with enterprise financial systems such as Workday preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage student placements in practicum and internship experiences, including early practicum placements in P–8 classrooms and capstone student teaching/internships.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local school districts, administrators, and mentor teachers to support field placements.
  • Monitor and track student placements across programs to ensure diverse school and grade-level experiences.
  • Maintain accurate placement records and prepare reports on practicum, internship participation, and program completion.
  • Plan and facilitate orientation and training sessions for mentor teachers, university supervisors, and students each semester, including evening sessions as needed.
  • Collaborate with department chairs and faculty to support placement-related activities and program needs.
  • Provide placement data and updates to the Chairs Council and Teacher Education Council.
  • Serve as liaison to relevant external partners, including the Maryland State Department of Education Professional Development School (PDS) Council, as applicable.
  • Maintain knowledge of educator preparation accreditation standards, including CAEP, as they relate to field experiences.
  • Provide comprehensive day‑to‑day operational, financial, and administrative support for grants and contracts in alignment with institutional and grantor policies.
  • Support grant-related activities, including budget tracking, financial reporting, and coordination of grant-funded initiatives.
  • Compile financial and programmatic data for internal and external reporting and compliance.
  • Serve as Accountability Officer for asset management responsibilities, as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with the Office of Sponsored Programs, Finance, and institutional compliance offices to ensure smooth grant administration across the award lifecycle (pre‑award, post‑award, closeout).
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding placement activities and grants/business operations.
  • Participate in college meetings and activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental priorities.
