About The Position

Halter is seeking a motivated, hands-on Field Operations Specialist to join their team as one of their first hardware technicians in Australia. This role involves building an efficient operational system from the ground up, ensuring the on-farm hardware infrastructure (collars and towers) runs smoothly. The specialist will be the go-to person on the ground, taking ownership and collaborating with teams in Australia and Auckland HQ to provide an excellent experience for pioneering producers. The role requires regular travel across Australia, with an expectation of 3 to 4 days a week on the road and some nights away from home.

Requirements

  • Practical experience with tools, electrical work, construction, networking, or equipment fitting.
  • Proactive, takes ownership, and figures things out on the go.
  • Ability to translate field observations into clear, actionable feedback for remote product and engineering teams.
  • Strong self-management and ability to complete tasks on schedule without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work well with people across different locations and time zones.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and imperfect situations in an early-stage market.
  • Commitment to excellence and ensuring infrastructure is at its best.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and sometimes spontaneously across the region.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the upkeep and repair of Halter’s on-farm infrastructure to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Diagnose issues with our hardware and feed that information back to the right team quickly.
  • Get out onto farms to help deploy Halter, troubleshoot issues, support installations, and ensure successful deployments.
  • Feed learnings back clearly to product and engineering teams to inform product development for Australian cattle producers.
  • Be part of the global on-call roster to support tower-related incidents and proactively find solutions.
  • Collect, interpret, and analyze data from hardware to optimize processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Help build and manage a maintenance system tailored to the Australian market.
  • Work closely across Halter’s teams to stay aligned and drive strong customer outcomes.
  • Travel regularly across Australia (3-4 days a week and some nights away from home).
  • Do whatever else is needed to ensure Halter's success in Australia.
