About The Position

Events are central to Rec's go-to-market strategy, especially within the parks and recreation industry which hosts numerous events annually. These events include national conferences like NRPA, state-specific conferences, regional workshops, and Rec's own event series, Rec Forward. The role involves representing Rec at these events, engaging directly with potential buyers, demonstrating the product, and generating qualified leads. The position requires understanding the distinct sales cycles and buyer motivations in both the Municipal Parks and Recreation sector and the Private Operator sector. This is a hands-on individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Growth Marketing, with no direct reports.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years in field marketing, event marketing, or a BDR/AE role with significant booth experience.
  • Ability to learn a product deeply and deliver product demonstrations effectively.
  • Comfortable initiating conversations with prospects and qualifying them without an interrogation-style approach.
  • Ability to differentiate between a busy show day and a productive one, and to adapt strategies based on performance.
  • Experience being measured on pipeline or meetings, rather than just attendance or lead counts.
  • Ability to work effectively unsupervised, especially when on the road.
  • Ability to travel approximately 40% to 50% during conference seasons (spring and fall), with lighter travel in between, potentially including weekends.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships within the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Rec at industry trade shows and events, engaging with prospects in the booth.
  • Deliver product demonstrations to potential buyers, showcasing Rec's capabilities.
  • Qualify leads on the event floor and book meetings for the sales team.
  • Own event-sourced pipeline as the primary metric, with qualified meetings booked as the leading indicator.
  • Collaborate with Sales on pre-event account targeting and outreach.
  • Manage post-event follow-through, including personal follow-up and handoffs to sales representatives.
  • Participate in Rec's own regional workshops (Rec Forward), helping shape invite lists and engaging attendees.
  • Provide field feedback to Product Marketing, Sales, and Product teams regarding buyer language and market insights.
