Founding Field Marketing and Community Manager

LlamaIndexSan Francisco, CA
$120,000 - $220,000Hybrid

About The Position

We are seeking our founding Field Marketing and Community person to define how LlamaIndex is represented in the real world and convert in-person experiences into pipeline. This role will own the entire field program end-to-end, including corporate events, first-party experiences, third-party conference sponsorships, and ecosystem partnerships. It requires a blend of strategic planning and hands-on execution, from deciding where and why to participate in events to managing all logistical aspects and post-event follow-up. This is an open-level role, prioritizing the ability to create memorable experiences and drive measurable pipeline over years of experience.

Requirements

  • 1–3+ years of field marketing, event marketing, or community experience in the AI/ML space or adjacent developer/enterprise infrastructure.
  • Track record of managing corporate events, first-party events, and third-party sponsorships from concept through post-event follow-up.
  • Experience building ecosystem or co-marketing partnerships with other vendors.
  • A pipeline mindset, treating events as a revenue channel and understanding program metrics.
  • Comfort with both strategy and execution.
  • Exceptional organization and project management skills under tight timelines and shifting priorities.
  • Based in or willing to be in the San Francisco Bay Area for a hybrid schedule.
  • Willingness to travel for events.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing relationships in the AI/developer-tools ecosystem (vendors, communities, event organizers).
  • Experience as a first or early marketing hire, building programs from zero.
  • Experience marketing to both developers and enterprise buyers.
  • Familiarity with event and marketing tools (CRM, marketing automation, event platforms).

Responsibilities

  • Own field marketing end to end, including strategy, calendar, and budget, with hands-on execution.
  • Run corporate and first-party events such as dinners, workshops, meetups, roadshows, and hosted experiences.
  • Manage third-party events and sponsorships by evaluating opportunities, negotiating sponsorships, and ensuring impactful presence.
  • Build ecosystem partnerships through co-marketing relationships with other AI vendors for joint events and activations.
  • Create memorable event experiences that attendees will talk about.
  • Drive pipeline through targeted in-person experiences by partnering with sales to select audiences and convert conversations into opportunities.
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of field programs, including registrations, attendance, pipeline sourced and influenced, and cost per opportunity.
  • Lay the foundation for community engagement by shaping how the developer and customer community is engaged in person long-term.
