About The Position

The Field Manager within the Grounds Maintenance division at Saluda Hill Landscapes oversees irrigation and application teams to support the health, appearance, and long-term maintenance of client properties. This role is responsible for scheduling and coordinating maintenance activities, supervising technicians, maintaining quality standards, and working closely with project managers and field teams. The Field Manager will focus on improving operational efficiency, resolving field and site-related issues, supporting team development, and ensuring compliance with company safety standards and applicable industry regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three years of experience in landscape maintenance, irrigation, chemical applications, or a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans, schedules, and technical documents.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills with the ability to train, support, and manage team members.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Ability to lift more than 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree or certification in turf management, horticulture, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous leadership or team management experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, fertilizers, pesticides, turf care, plant care, and landscape maintenance best practices.
  • State pesticide applicator license preferred, or the ability to obtain one within the required timeframe.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead irrigation and application teams, providing guidance and support with daily operations.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee maintenance activities to ensure properties meet company quality standards and client expectations.
  • Monitor and inspect completed work to ensure irrigation and application services are performed correctly and efficiently.
  • Train and develop team members while reinforcing company standards, industry best practices, and safety procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving irrigation systems, turf health, plant health, and chemical applications.
  • Maintain accurate records related to schedules, completed work, product usage, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate with project managers and field teams to coordinate maintenance activities and support broader operational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
  • Manage the inventory, storage, and proper use of fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation materials, and other necessary supplies.
  • Assist with hiring, employee development, performance evaluations, and other efforts that support the continued growth of the team.
