About The Position

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Field Inspector - Rail and Transit to join our team! In this role you will work on an exciting Rail and Transit project in Portland OR. You will be responsible for performing all aspects of field engineering assignments including implementation of plans, schedules, contracts, procedures, and construction methods and systems for an assigned project, or a designated area of a large project. You will also review the performance of contactor and subcontractors to assure contract compliance, the application of accepted construction technology and standards, and the acceptable standardization of materials and supplies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in field construction is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as industry practices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, a familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction, and the proven ability performing in a lead capacity on a project.
  • Software skills include: MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, ProCore, Adobe Acrobat.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the construction of large civil/structural and/or industrial projects at domestic and/or foreign locations is preferred.
  • Amtrak experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily field inspections to confirm work meets approved plans and specifications.
  • Prepare daily field reports summarizing progress, inspections, and issues.
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor activities for compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Communicate and help resolve site-related construction challenges promptly.
  • Support quality control by documenting non-conformances and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other field inspectors and managers.
  • Participate in day/night shifts and weekend work as required by the construction schedule.
  • Assist with tracking and updating logs for RFIs, NCRs, and other construction documentation.
  • Perform administrative duties under the direction of Construction Manager.
  • Contribute to monthly progress reports and schedule look-aheads under guidance from the Construction Manager.
  • Assist the Construction Manager as required.
  • Attending and taking meeting minutes, distribution of meeting minutes, as directed by Construction Manager.
