About The Position

Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is seeking a Field Engineer to join their team in Austin, TX. This role supports the Project Team and Field Management in constructing safe, quality projects while meeting budget goals and fostering strong customer relationships. The Field Engineer will assist the Project Engineer with various tasks including shop drawings, submittals, scheduling, meetings, as-built drawings, job costing, procurement, and field operations. The company is a heavy civil construction firm established in 1947, with a broad project scope and a commitment to safety. Requirements

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and HCSS/Heavy Job
  • Able to prepare reports in Excel and Word
  • Must have ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, subs and IC's, along with initiative, organization, and planning skills
  • Ability to review and understand plan specs and drawings
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in a field environment
  • Proficient in written and verbal business communications skills
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the material tracking system.
  • Comply with safety procedures/policies and address and/or elevate non-compliance among all employees, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in daily Task Safety Awareness and weekly Safety Meetings.
  • Support Quality personnel and the project through the use of the Quality Management System.
  • Properly track quantities on a daily basis and reconcile them each month for payment purposes.
  • Manage/review all foremen's reports daily to ensure all information is properly recorded before any income, cost, or inventory entry.
  • Document all Time and Material operations on a capture sheet and reconcile with the client on a daily basis.
  • Take two site walks a day to communicate with and learn from Foreman and Superintendents about current operations.
  • Participate in relevant daily huddles to ensure the projects are expeditiously and profitably constructed.
  • Establish excellent working and professional relationships with the clients and their representatives and/or field inspectors.
  • Assist the buyout process, write the requisition, and communicate all required information to the Project Team. Negotiate the best deal for cost, quality, and delivery using the company buyout procedure.
  • Produce complete purchase orders after the conditions are approved by the Project Manager.
  • Know the key operational details of the subcontract and hold the subcontractors accountable to their agreement.
  • Attend subcontractor coordination meetings to provide updates to schedules, drawings, and specifications.
  • Conduct work with 100% integrity and professionalism.
