Field Engineer- Installation Team lead

CaptiveAireTampa, FL
Onsite

About The Position

CaptiveAire is launching a CaptiveAire-employed, self-performing install crew to deliver turnkey national-account HVAC installations under our own quality system. The Field Engineer / Installation Manager leads that crew — owning jobsite planning, execution, quality, and safety. The role starts as a hybrid of field engineering and construction management and grows into a full construction-management seat as the program scales. Extensive travel to jobsites is required. CaptiveAire is the nation’s leading manufacturer of commercial kitchen ventilation systems, and now offering a complete solution of fans, heaters, ductwork and HVAC equipment. Leader in the industry for over 40 years with innovative technologies, unmatched service, competitive pricing, and rapid lead times. Our mission is to provide the highest quality products and service to our users at the lowest possible price. We have a strong commitment to the development of our employees, including continuous education opportunities like sponsorship for Professional Engineering license and continuous education through weekly webinars and company developed technical videos.

Requirements

  • Field-engineering, construction-management, or superintendent experience on commercial HVAC / mechanical projects preferred
  • Strong, independent problem-solving and the judgment to run a jobsite.
  • Willingness and ability to travel on demand. Travel is fully covered.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • CaptiveAire product and quality knowledge preferred
  • 4-year technical degree in a mechanical, electrical, or construction curriculum preferred
  • 2-5yr experience preferred
  • Experience building or scaling field teams.
  • National-account or multi-site rollout experience.
  • Controls/BAS, commissioning, and air-balancing exposure.
  • HVAC installation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a starting crew of two to three installers across Paragon HVAC installs / replacements, supply/return/exhaust duct, low-voltage controls scopes, and some third-party equipment.
  • Plan every install before mobilizing — pre-mobilization site visits, full drawing-set review, and trade coordination through the GC so no other trade compromises our scope.
  • Own on-site decision-making, schedule, and quality: daily check-ins, punch list resolution, and the autonomy (and accountability) to make the call in the field.
  • Enforce CaptiveAire’s install standards — SOP per install type, structural-engineer review on changeouts, spreader-bar lifts, minimal deck cutouts, CAS-supplied gasket, and clean, safe, organized jobsites.
  • Run startup, commissioning and reporting on completed installs, especially while the crew is establishing.
  • Provide field-engineering and technical support for customers during install downtime, based in Tampa FL.
  • Coordinate with the Key Accounts Manager, project teams, and customers to keep installs on time, on budget, and on brand.
