About The Position

As a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service) at United Rentals, you will perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment safely and professionally. The role includes providing exceptional customer service and offers potential career progression to higher-level Service Technician and leadership roles in the Service Department. This position is designated Safety Sensitive under United Rentals’ policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• 3–5 years of experience repairing or maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
• Must own tools applicable to the position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 45 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Safely maintain and repair complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
• Travel to customer job sites to repair and maintain rental or customer-owned equipment.
• Maintain the service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
• Assist in training lower-level technicians as needed.
• Complete paperwork and electronic documentation of work performed, including work orders, accurately and on time each day.
• Assist with equipment and parts pickup and delivery.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
