About The Position

As a Field Diesel Mechanic (Field Service Tech II) at United Rentals, you will perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment safely and professionally. The role includes working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems, and traveling to customer job sites to service rental or customer-owned equipment. You will help deliver exceptional customer service, maintain accurate work documentation, and may assist with training lower-level technicians. The position offers the potential to progress into higher-level Service Technician or leadership roles in the Service Department.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
One to two years of experience repairing or maintaining vehicles and equipment, or graduation from trade school.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
Must own tools applicable to the position.
Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

Safely maintain and repair a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
Travel to customer job sites to repair and maintain rental or customer-owned equipment.
Keep the service vehicle clean and professional.
Assist with training lower-level technicians as needed.
Complete paperwork and electronic documentation of work performed, including work orders, accurately and on time each day.
Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
