About The Position

As a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech IV - Field Service) at United Rentals, you will maintain and repair complex equipment with limited or no supervision, using independent judgment in a skilled, safe, and professional manner. The role involves servicing a variety of rental and customer-owned equipment and tools, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems. You will travel to customer job sites and provide exceptional customer service. The position may also offer opportunities to work toward leadership roles in the Service Department.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
At least 5 years of experience repairing or maintaining equipment and tools.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
Extensive knowledge of construction equipment and an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
Must own tools applicable to the position.
Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools, using a high degree of independent judgment.
Travel to customer job sites to repair and maintain rental or customer-owned equipment, and keep the service vehicle clean and professional.
Assist with training lower-level technicians as needed.
Maintain complete and timely daily paperwork or electronic documentation of work performed, including work orders.
Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
