Field Claims Adjuster - Auto Damage - Tulare, CA
About The Position
As an auto damage claims adjuster, you will serve as Progressive’s point of contact with customers, directing and making decisions about the repair process from beginning to end. You will manage your own inventory and work independently, coordinating with body shops and others to negotiate repair pricing and assess liability. This is a field position with access to a company car and frequent driving within the assigned geographical area. Workloads are assessed collectively, so you may cover assignments outside your geographical area and may occasionally be required to report to an office. Candidates must reside in Fresno, Visalia, or Tulare, California. The position requires relevant work experience and appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience, with education-based alternatives described in the minimum qualifications. A valid driver’s license and auto insurance are required, along with compliance with Progressive’s driving standards and/or policies. Compensation is $28.84–$35.57, dependent on experience, with an annual gainshare cash incentive opportunity of up to 16% of eligible earnings based on company performance. Work may take place in the field, office, body shop, network shop, or service center. The role involves frequent driving and may involve exposure to fumes, dust, and chemical or solvent odors typically found in body shops. Physical activities may include lifting, bending, stretching, walking, crouching, twisting, lying on the floor, standing for extended periods, sitting for extended periods, and climbing, balancing, stooping, and crawling. The role may require repetitive use of the upper extremities and moving or lifting up to 20 pounds. Requirements
- At least four years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; or an associate’s degree and at least three years of relevant work experience, including one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience; or a bachelor’s degree and at least one year of appraisal/estimatics or insurance experience.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
- Must comply with Progressive’s driving standards and/or policies.
- Must reside in Fresno, Visalia, or Tulare, California.
- Leadership and conflict management skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for excellent customer service are identified as ideal candidate qualities.
Responsibilities
- Complete vehicle inspections, write estimates, determine total loss evaluations, and set clear expectations and timelines.
- Negotiate the repair process with body shops.
- Document claim information and make decisions consistent with claims standards and local laws.
- Evaluate and handle claim payments and resolve claims without payments.
- Review and determine the validity of supplement requests.
- Manage an assigned claim inventory and coordinate the repair process with customers and others.
- Assess liability and negotiate repair pricing.
