About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, Fiber Splicers help build and expand fiber-optic networks. The role is responsible for producing end-to-end fiber-optic networks, testing and troubleshooting network continuity, operating testing equipment, and resolving common network challenges. Work takes place at outdoor utility construction sites and involves hands-on work with a team. The position requires flexibility to work a variety of shifts and overtime.

Requirements

At least 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
Ability to work safely and complete work to a high quality standard.
Problem-solving ability and a hands-on approach to work.
Comfort working on a ladder or in a bucket truck.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts and overtime.
Ability to test and certify fiber-optic networks using OTDRs and other testing equipment.
Ability to conduct fiber-optic cable routing and management.

Responsibilities

Produce end-to-end fiber-optic networks.
Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber-optic networks.
Operate fiber-optic testing equipment and resolve common network challenges.
Prepare fiber splice enclosures, including Tyco, CommScope, and Corning equipment.
Use fusion splicers and testing equipment, including OTDRs (1310 and 1550), DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, and power meters.
Apply knowledge of fiber design, documentation, light levels, and dB loss.
Test and certify fiber-optic networks using OTDRs and other testing equipment.
Conduct fiber-optic cable routing and management.
Work at outdoor utility construction sites.
