About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, the Fiber Splicer helps produce end-to-end fiber optic networks in a safety-minded environment. The role supports the company’s efforts to provide high-quality service to customers and communities. Work takes place at outdoor utility construction sites and involves fiber splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and resolving common fiber network challenges.

Requirements

At least 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
Comfort working on a ladder or in a bucket truck.
Safety-minded approach to day-to-day work.
Track record of completing work to a high standard of quality.
Ability to solve challenging problems and work hands-on.
Enjoy working with a team.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts and overtime.

Responsibilities

Produce end-to-end fiber optic networks.
Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
Operate fiber optic testing equipment and resolve challenges common to fiber optic networks.
Prepare fiber splice enclosures, including Tyco, CommScope, and Corning equipment.
Use fusion splicers and testing equipment, including OTDR, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, and power meters.
Apply knowledge of fiber design, documentation, light levels, and dB loss.
Work at outdoor utility construction sites.
