About The Position
The Effector Digital Products department is seeking an Electrical Engineer with FPGA development or verification experience. The role develops FPGA designs for major vendors and device families, including Xilinx, Altera, and Microsemi. Designs are implemented in VHDL for applications such as gigabit serial interfaces, RF and EO digital signal processing, controls, data links, embedded processing, and processor interfaces. The engineer collaborates with circuit card designers and systems engineers on requirements, system architecture, algorithm modeling, design partitioning, code development, simulation, and place and route. Design support extends from requirements definition through integration and test, with design documentation and configuration management required. This is a 12-month contract opportunity in Tucson, Arizona, with a 9/80 schedule and a stated pay rate of $71 to $74.29 per hour on W-2.
Requirements
- Electrical engineering background.
- FPGA development or verification experience.
- VHDL design and coding experience.
- Experience or capability with FPGA design verification using directed and constrained-random methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver production-quality FPGA releases, from proof of concept through production.
- Architect FPGA-based systems, determining parts, interfaces, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS).
- Translate system-level requirements into FPGA requirements.
- Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability.
- Verify designs using self-checking techniques, directed tests, and constrained-random tests, while tracking functional and code coverage.
- Help drive projects and execute them to program schedules, on time and within budget.
- Create documentation, including requirements, verification plans, and user guides.
- Support internal and external technical reviews as needed.
- Collaborate with circuit card designers and systems engineers on requirements, architecture, algorithm modeling, partitioning, code development, simulation, and place and route.
- Support designs from requirements definition through integration and test.
- Maintain design documentation and configuration management.
