About The Position

The Fermilab Computational Science Internship (FCSI) is a graduate internship program for students majoring in computer science or a related field who are interested in working at a national science research laboratory. Interns gain understanding of and experience with Fermilab’s computing for high energy physics while assisting with laboratory research and development efforts to explore and enable the use of state-of-the-art tools and technology for the benefit of the science community. The program runs from May 17, 2027, through August 6, 2027. Work is onsite, Monday through Friday, for 40 hours per week. Compensation depends on academic year: $1,000 per workweek for first-year master’s students, $1,050 per workweek for second-year master’s students, and $1,100 per workweek for PhD students. The program pays for airfare, housing, and transportation when the intern’s permanent address is more than 50 miles from the host laboratory. An oral presentation is a program deliverable.
