About The Position

The feather Process operator controls the cooking process from hydrolyzing the raw feathers to a finished product. Operates a straight or articulated rubber tired tractor type vehicle equipped with a front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage processing areas, to feed cookers, hoppers, or chutes. The role involves hydrolyzing raw feathers, drying them, sizing, running machinery that processes cooked feathers into feather meal, and transferring hydrolyzed feather meal to storage. The operator will also perform routine maintenance on the loader, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning, and fill Feather Cookers, tightening domes to ensure correct cooking.

Requirements

  • Must have 3 months of work history with one employer within the last 2 years listed on application.
  • State Driver License needed to obtain an industrial truck license (PIT).
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Hydrolyzing raw feathers.
  • Drying the raw feathers.
  • Sizing.
  • Running the Machinery that processes the cooked feathers into make feather meal.
  • Transferring of hydrolyzed feather meal to storage.
  • Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel to operate loader.
  • Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front end loader forward to force bucket into bulk material.
  • Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drives vehicle at work site, and moves levers to dump material.
  • Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
  • Fills Feather Cooker’s and tightens the domes to ensure the materials cooks correctly.
