About The Position

Under administrative direction, the Workforce Development Coordinator will work with the Fayette County Workforce Development Steering Committee, the Southern Ohio ESC Business Advisory Council (including the Fayette County BAC), and partnering school districts, businesses, and community partners to develop the talent pipeline, engage with the current workforce, local employers, and education providers, and coordinate the efforts of the Fayette County Workforce Development Steering Committee and Fayette County Business Advisory Council (BAC). This role will provide a wide view of the current workforce development landscape for community agencies, organizations, businesses, and schools, marshal community resources to increase partnering school districts’ capacities for the number of students reached and the impact on businesses and the local workforce, and expand funding opportunities through grant applications and other sources to allow the program to continue to grow. During the 2026-2027 school year, primary responsibilities include strengthening relationships with local business/employer partners and enhancing student experiences, including job shadowing and internship programming, and exposure to local career opportunities. The Coordinator will work closely with staff in each school district in Fayette County and meet with appropriate school staff on a regular basis to identify needs and help provide career exploration/workforce development support to students. For the strength, sustainability, and credibility of the program, it is vital that this position be accountable to stakeholders in both the education and business communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a business-related field.
  • Possess (or be willing to attain) and maintain the required valid Ohio State Board of Education license or certificate.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to five years of workforce development and/or project management experience preferred.
  • K-16 education and/or business experience preferred.
  • Possess proven success in working with educators, businesses, local government officials, service providers, and community development organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the talent pipeline.
  • Engage with the current workforce, local employers, and education providers.
  • Coordinate the efforts of the Fayette County Workforce Development Steering Committee and Fayette County Business Advisory Council (BAC).
  • Provide a wide view of the current workforce development landscape for community agencies, organizations, businesses, and schools.
  • Marshal community resources to increase partnering school districts’ capacities for the number of students reached and the impact on businesses and the local workforce.
  • Expand funding opportunities through grant applications and other sources to allow the program to continue to grow.
  • Strengthening relationships with local business/employer partners (through the continued development, refinement, and deployment of a business directory).
  • Enhancing student experiences (including job shadowing and internship programming) and exposure to local career opportunities.
  • Work closely with staff in each school district in Fayette County (including school counselors, work study coordinators, and career technical education staff).
  • Meet with appropriate school staff on a regular basis to identify needs and help provide career exploration/workforce development support to students in the Fayette County school districts.
