About The Position

The Fatherhood Engagement Specialist connects and engages fathers/male partners with child welfare involvement to promote healthy family relationships, strengthen father-child bonds and enhance the level of involvement of fathers in case planning and provision of services. This position is responsible for outreach, parenting education, individualized, court-related support, community resource linkages and referrals, and father engagement through agency approved evidenced based curriculum. This position cultivates and manages collaborative relationships with child welfare family serving agencies and other stakeholders to create a culture of respect including awareness of ethical, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed interactions. The goal of purposeful inclusion of fathers is to improve outcomes for fathers, children, and families. This position covers the tri-county area of Seminole, Orange, and Osceola counties. This position will be a hybrid role between remote work and in office/field work.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and lived experience required.
  • 1-2 years related experience required.
  • Strong computer skills: This is essential to quickly learn the unique database systems required to perform the functions of this position.
  • Strong verbal and written communication: Essential to be able to communicate appropriately regarding work performance.
  • Ability to set and adjust priorities: Decide which things are most important to do.
  • Ability to be flexible with changing demands and priorities: Manage change effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Child Welfare System experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 2 to 5 years related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Outreach to Engage Fathers with Child Welfare Involvement: Orient and acclimate fathers to the program services and environment.
  • Facilitate Fatherhood Engagement Curriculum: Teaches agency approved evidenced based curriculum in the home, community, and group settings as appropriate, outreach and education to benefit fathers.
  • Advocacy, Support and Linkages: Refers and links fathers to appropriate community agencies and ensures necessary follow-up as appropriate via phone and in-person, assist fathers with completion of applications to community services and/or programs, and advocates for father’s need in support of shared parenting.
  • Liaison to Dependency Case Manager: Serves as a liaison to the assigned Dependency Case Manager ensuring collaboration and open communication of all activities.
  • Documentation: Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation as required of all contacts and activities in FSFN.
  • Other duties as required: Job performance requires fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting, and training others, and performing duties of higher rated positions from time to time for developmental purposes.
